The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security and takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression.

    “Hi everyone! My name is Teresa, and I am a senior at Shanghai American School (Puxi Campus). I have served as the Secretary General of two different conferences and attended over a dozen conferences as a delegate or chair. Throughout my 5 years of involvement in MUN, I have had the privilege of witnessing the multilateralism, awareness, and understanding that MUN fosters. Every MUN conference is an opportunity for delegates to take on the exhilarating responsibility of representing an entire nation– a situation that challenges delegates to think beyond their personal opinions and consider what is best for the large, diverse community on behalf of which they speak. I am confident that SHAMUNLite will offer that and much more. I look forward to seeing delegates tackle some of the most urgent issues we face, and I am beyond excited to meet you all in February!”
