Melonie Ma - President Chair
Hey everyone! My name is Melonie and I am currently a junior and an IB student at SHSID. I have started my MUN journey in seventh grade, and this year’s SHAMUN will be my 15th conference, including both delegating and chairing experiences.
My main topic of focus will be topic 3, addressing economic dependence on tourism revenue in climate-vulnerable economies. Climate-vulnerable states face mounting risks and require economic diversification to cut heavy dependence on volatile tourism earnings
Finally, I would say that instead of being overly power-hungry and aggressive, this conference is more about collaboration and growth. I hope all delegates can come here well prepared, regardless of your level of experience. Please do contact me if there are any concerns!
And here’s a fun fact about me: I have a pet snake named spaghetti.

Kiaan Singh - Deputy President
Greetings, Delegates!
My name is Kiaan Singh, currently a junior at Shanghai Community International School (Hongqiao), and I am honored to serve as your Deputy President for this iteration of SHAMUN in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for my thirteenth MUN conference.
My topic of specialization will be “Regulating rising homelessness and informal shelters in growing cities”. This issue is incredibly pertinent because the best measure of successful urban policy will not be whether homelessness disappears from sight, but whether fewer people are homeless in the first place. I look forward to seeing delegates bring creative, well-researched solutions, as well as fruitful debate that is grounded in diplomatic principles.
If you have any questions or want to make note of a scheduled absence on a conference day, please feel free to reach me at kiaansingh02@gmail.com.
I am excited to see you all in October!

Alex Lu - Deputy President
Greetings. My name is Alex Lu and I am honored to serve as your deputy president for the UN Economic and Social Council. SHAMUN XXVI will be my 10th conference, and I am excited to share my passion for debate, diplomacy, and global affairs with all of you.
My chosen topic, addressing premature deindustrialization in lower-middle-income countries, may seem technical or slightly abstract at first glance, but it is in fact a fascinating and highly relevant socioeconomic issue that lies at the intersection of development, globalization, and inequality. As many developing countries struggle to industrialize before transitioning into service-based economies, questions surrounding employment and economic growth become increasingly urgent. Therefore, it is up to you, delegates, to think critically, explore innovative solutions, and engage in rigorous debate.
I look forward to meeting all of you and seeing the policy expertise and unique perspectives you bring to committee.
