General Assembly IV - GA IV
President Chairs
-
President - Gina Lin
Hi everyone, my name is Gina Lin and it is my pleasure to serve as your president chair in General Assembly IV of SHAMUN! As a rising junior at Shanghai American School Pudong, this will be my sixth year participating in MUN. I am excited to welcome any returning or new delegates to our committee and support you through exciting debate in the General Assembly.
With GA in SHAMUN being the first committee I have ever attended as a delegate, this truly feels like a full circle moment for me. Over the years, MUN has helped me grow in confidence, communication, and global awareness. I hope you all can find something similar in this committee and take this opportunity to connect with other delegates.
See you all in October!

Deputy President - Jennie Tan
Welcome delegates!
I am Jennie Tan, a Year 11 student at Dulwich College Shanghai, Pudong. It is my honor to be serving as the Deputy President in the General Assembly IV for SHAMUN XXV.
With 5 years of experience in MUN, I’ve attended various conferences that are mainly across China - I believe that each conference gives all delegates, chairs, admin staff and the secretariat a very special memory. I have no doubt that SHAMUN XXV will also be another meaningful chapter for all of us.
In this conference, I will be focusing on the issue of addressing the political and security crisis in Burkina Faso. I am positive that our committee will have the ability to draft innovative and comprehensive resolutions along with fruitful debates!
Hopefully this year’s SHAMUN will be another unforgettable experience in all our MUN careers – see you all in October!

Deputy President - Emily Shen
Greetings, delegates!
My name is Emily, and I am a current 11th grader at SASPX. I have been involved in MUN since 6th grade, and I am honored to serve as the Deputy President for General Assembly IV.
I will be specializing in “Addressing the violent insurgency in Cabo Delgado.” The crisis in Cabo Delgado began in 2017 and continues up to the present, involving thousands of deaths, high civilian casualties, and mass displacement. This insurgency is motivated by Islamist extremism, with the main insurgent faction being Ansar al-Sunna, which seeks to establish an Islamist state in the region. Though various UN agencies have responded to the issue, violence continues.
This year’s conference will certainly involve intriguing discussions about a wide variety of issues, requiring close cooperation between various delegates. With that in mind, I look forward to meeting you all at the conference!

Issues of Debate
