Meet the Student Officers

  • Derek X.

    CHAIR

“Hello, my name is Derek X. I’m a junior at SAS Puxi and it is my privilege to serve as your Chair for the Crisis committee and also as your deputy secretary General at SHAMUN Lite. I’ve done MUN for 2 years. and I was the deputy president for Crisis at SHAMUN. The Crisis committee is really unique and it’s quite rare in China. I loved the spontaneous characteristic of the Crisis committee and it’s my personal favorite. I hope you can enjoy it as well!”

  • Ashley Y.

    CHAIR

“Hi, everyone! I'm a senior officer for SAS PUXI MUN, and I've been involved with MUN since 8th grade. I've participated in several prestigious conferences such as CISSMUN and THIMUN over the years, and helped run several conferences as well, like PUXIMUN and SHAMUN. Looking forward to SHAMUNLite this year!”

  • Seher A.

    CHAIR

“Delegates and esteemed guests, welcome to SHAMUNLite's Crisis Committee. My name is Seher, and I have been a proud member of SAS's MUN community for four years now. SHAMUNLite will be my seventh conference, and I look forward to serving as your chair while discussing the crisis in Yemen. I hope to help new and returning delegates craft meaningful amendments and speeches, and be a part of the fruitful process of passing resolutions and facilitating the flow of the conference. I hope everyone is ready to work together, listen, and share thoughtful ideas as we debate critical real-world issues. I look forward to meeting you all in February!”

Crisis Backroom

  • Teresa C.

    CRISIS BACKROOM

“Hello! My name is Teresa, currently a freshman as Shanghai American School, Puxi. With over a year of experience and a few conferences under my belt, it is my honor to be serving you both on the SHAMUN Secretariat team and as well as in the Crisis Backroom. Being a conference of a more intimate size, I have all the confidence that SHAMUNLite will be the optimal venue for even more experienced delegates to fine-tune their skills and grasp on diplomacy. It is only through open discourse that we can aim to foster a brighter future, and I only hope that SHAMUNLite will help you along as you continue on your journey of collaboration and contribution to this cause. I look forward to meeting all of you on conference day!”

  • Alex M.

    CRISIS BACKROOM

“My name is Alex and it is a great honor to be able to serve as a deputy secretary general and a chair at the inaugural SHAMUNLite conference. My MUN journey began just several months ago in august 2021. In this period of time, I have grown to greatly enjoy the different aspects of MUN and have developed a passion for international relations and improving the wider global community.

The pace of societal development in recent years has accelerated at an unprecedented rate, coming with this growth is a unique set of challenges that face us all. The theme of SHAMUNLite "A transforming tomorrow" aims to bring out fruitful discussions and foster international collaboration about these challenges that face us. It is in my belief that all delegates and chairs will benefit greatly from the experience gained from the SHAMUNLite conference and go on to improve the state of tomorrow.

I look forward to seeing all of you in February!”

  • Riley S.

    CRISIS BACKROOM

“Hello delegates! My name is Riley, and I am a member of the crisis backroom in the Crisis Committee. I began my MUN journey in 8th grade, and as I attend conferences along the way, I've worked with passionate delegates who have powerful potentials, I've also helped those who had newly joined this unique community. The satisfaction of numerous delegates standing up on the podium to support your amendment, the intense discussion between two eloquent debaters. These experiences had become precious treasure that holds a special place in my heart. Through MUN, I see and learn from delegates as they pose cogent arguments towards stimulating topics. As we participate in exploring innumerable aspects of global issues, we acquire skills that allow us to develop and grow in diverse areas. Without further ado, I wish you all the best of luck in preparation for a compelling debate.”
