Hi delegates,

Welcome to SHAMUN XXVI! My name is Evelyn Liang, a current junior from Shanghai American School Puxi, and I am honored to be your president chair. SHAMUN XXVI marks my 7th conference and the start of my 3rd year in the MUN program.

MUN has been a huge part of my life, shaping not only the way I debate and negotiate but also the way I view the world and my role within it. I am deeply passionate about the power of dialogue and the importance of every voice being heard, and I carry that passion with me into every single conference. None of this would be possible, of course, without the incredible dedication of my fellow chairs, the hardworking secretariat team, and each and every one of you delegates—thank you for making this conference what it is and for committing your time, energy, and intellect.

My topic of specialization will be illegal immigration and border security. This is a complex issue of national sovereignty, economic opportunity, humanitarian obligation, and public safety. I look forward to your ideas on how to mitigate this issue.

Hello delegates!

My name is Rachel, a junior at SASPX, and it is my honor to serve as the Deputy President of the US Congress Committee at this year’s SHASMUN.

My MUN journey began in 6th grade, and since then I have attended numerous conferences across the globe. SHAMUN will mark my thirteenth conference and my second time chairing. MUN has been a pivotal part of my life, helping me grow not only in confidence as a public speaker, but also in my ability to socialize, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others. I especially value fun and engaging speeches, POIs, and amendments that elevate the committee beyond conventional debate.

At this conference, I will be focusing on the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programs in the Federal Government. In the wake of recent executive orders that dismantled federal DEI infrastructure, contractor mandates, and agency diversity offices, the future of civil service standards remains fiercely contested. The USCC must navigate the complex legal and political debate between enforcing colorblind meritocracy and ensuring equal opportunity across federal institutions. As delegates of the USCC, your goal will be to navigate these policy shifts and draft meaningful, actionable legislation for the nation.

My name is Annabell Zhou, a senior at Shanghai American School Puxi, and I am thrilled to serve as your Deputy President for the United States Congress Committee (USCC) in the iteration SHAMUN XXVI.

My topic of focus will be “Gun Rights and Restrictions to the Second Amendment.” This issue stands at the center of one of the most intensely debated constitutional and social conflicts in modern governance, balancing personal liberties against the responsibility of public safety and harm reduction.

The USCC serves as a legislative battleground where representatives reconcile conflicting public interests. Our purpose is to draft, debate, and pass impactful policy that addresses national issues and protects constitutional principles.

In MUN, the Shatterpoint symbolizes that pivotal moment where a single well-crafted argument or compromise shifts the entire debate. I hope you embrace this momentum to engage in fierce and meaningful debate.
