Flights and China High Speed Rail

Schools travelling from outside of Shanghai are expected to book their own flights and high-speed rail transits.

For flights, If possible, we strongly recommend flying into Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport instead of Pudong International Airport, as it is much closer to the school and nearby hotels.

For those going by train, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway station is the best option. There are also other modes of transport to go from the railway station to hotels and the SASPX Campus (see next two subsections).

SASPX Provided Busses

SASPX will be providing busses to pick up schools from Hongqiao Airport as needed. They will take schools to their respective hotels and the school itself on conference days.

Public Transportation

Though most transportation necessary for the conference will be provided by SAS, there are other options available if needed for any reason. Here’s a brief rundown on public transportation options:

Shanghai Metro

The Shanghai Metro is quite cheap. It can be paid for using the ticket machines within each station, or through a physical/digital metro card. Hongqiao International Airport has a metro station in Terminal 2. This connects to Line 2 and Line 10. Hongqiao Railway Station is also connected by one stop via Line 2. The nearest metro stations to SAS are the National Exhibition and Convention Center of Line 2 (Terminal Station) and the National Exhibition and Convention Center of Line 17. The former is 2 stops away from Hongqiao Airport, and 1 stop away from Hongqiao Railway station. Both stations guide you to the Shanghai Exhibition and Convention Center, around which many of the hotels are located. Both stations are roughly 20-30 minutes walking distance away from school. If your school is planning to book a hotel further away from school, the metro is an option, but not necessarily ideal.

Shanghai Bus

Like the Metro, the bus system is incredibly cheap. The fare for all public buses is 2rmb. After paying upfront, you can travel any number of stops down the same line. There is no need to scan out to leave the bus. The fare can also be paid in coins.The nearest bus stop to SAS is Jinfeng/Yunle Lu, right outside Fashion Mall and across the street from the SASPX Campus. You can reach this stop from the National Exhibition and Convention Center of Line 2 by taking Bus 773.
