International Monetary Fund - IMF

President Chairs

  • President - Claire Hsu

    Helloooo delegates!

My name is Claire, I am currently a junior at Shanghai American School Puxi, and it is my honor to serve as the President of the International Monetary Fund at SHAMUN XXV. I have participated in over 8 conferences over the course of 3 years and am very excited to meet all of you!

I will be focusing on the topic of "Developing international frameworks to resolve global trade tensions.” Trade tensions have been surrounding us ever since trade began. In recent years, trade tensions have grown to be gradually more intense, and it has been evident that trade disputes could escalate into possible wars. Furthermore, trade tensions create economic uncertainty, disrupt supply chains and ultimately affects the global economic growth. Thus, it is in delegates’ hands to collectively resolve trade tensions through communication, debate and exchanging country stances.

Feel free to reach out anytime and ask questions about topics or the conference! I am very excited to hold a fruitful debate and see you guys in October!

  • Deputy President - Hanwon Kim

I’m Hanwon, a junior at Concordia International School Shanghai. It is my great pleasure to serve as your Vice President in the International Monetary Fund, alongside President Claire and Vice President Arnav. Last year, I was a delegate in the European Parliament at SHAMUN, and the year before, my first ever MUN conference was in ECOSOC, also at SHAMUN. I’ve also attended numerous other conferences and am an active member of my school’s MUN club and Secretariat. I look forward to a weekend of thoughtful, engaging debate with all of you.

  • Deputy President - Arnav Chhaparwal

    Greetings, delegates!

My name is Arnav Chhaparwal, a Year 11 student at DCSPD, and I am honored to serve as your deputy chair for this year’s SHAMUN.

I began MUN in Year 7, and since then, have attended numerous conferences across multiple countries - SHAMUN will be my eighth conference and my second time chairing! MUN has been a pivotal part of my life over the past few years, providing me with invaluable memories. To me, MUN offers all delegates a chance to grow, whether it be through expressing their personal views, listening to others, or simply stepping out of their comfort zone. My topic of specialization will be "Strengthening debt sustainability frameworks for climate-vulnerable countries"

I hope SHAMUN will be a memorable experience in all our MUN careers and I look forward to seeing you all in October!
